Wollongong has some of Australia's most beautiful beaches and rock pools
From Stanwell Park to Windang, the golden sands and blue-green waters of Illawarra's 17 patrolled beaches are perfect for volleyball, beach sports, walking, swimming, surfing, sailboarding and scuba diving, as we host spectacular marine life. In addition, eight of the area's beaches boast fascinating, easily accessible rock pools.
Council Lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers provide beach patrol services from the September school holidays through to Anzac Day - 25 April, annually.
2008 Winter Operating Hours
North Beach Wollongong: Beach patrols continue after ANZAC Day long weekend 2008 until the beginning of September 2008 School Holidays - 9am to 4pm 7 days per week.
Stanwell Park, Thirroul and Port Kembla Beaches: Trialled extension of beach patrols after ANZAC Day long weekend 2008 up to and including 9 June 2008 - 9am to 4pm 7 days per week.
