The ‘Plants Alive’ program allows students to become active participants in the learning process. The hands-on approach of creating a ‘Living Classroom’ at your school provides students an understanding of where food comes from and an appreciation for plants which supports life.
Key focus areas of the ‘Living Classroom’ can include
- no dig gardens,
- composting, and
- how to grow fruit and vegetables.
This outdoor learning experience complements the various curriculum activities explored within the classroom.
In addition to the excursion to the Botanic Garden, staff can assist you in creating your school’s own ‘Living Classroom’ from recycled pallets, old furniture and living plants (materials and plants sourced by the school).
The fun-packed excursion to the Botanic Garden includes:
- a big garden adventure walk
- plant growing activities
- ideas on how to start your own living classroom
- a Plants Alive Garden Show
