The Friends of Wollongong Botanic Garden are a Volunteer based group who for 30 years have contributed to raising the awareness of the Wollongong Botanic Garden.
Friends activities include raising funds for Botanic Gardens projects, participating in plant propagation at the Gardens Nursery, hosting guided walks, working with staff on the development of learning materials and supporting the gardens staff during our school holiday programs.
The Friends meet at the Garden’s Discovery Centre (Madoline Street entrance) at 10am on the second Saturday of February, April (AGM), June, August, October and December.
Frog’s Hollow
Frog’s Hollow is a fundraising group run by the Friends of Wollongong Botanic Garden which sells hand made items, both within the Garden and at the Community Booth in the Wollongong Mall, to raise funds for Garden projects.
Plant Propagation Group
The Friends have an active group of volunteers producing plant material that is sold to raise funds for gardens projects. The Friends plant sales are held twice per annum.
Joining the Friends
The Friends are always on the lookout for new members so get involved. They offer worthwhile volunteering activities for volunteers in a friendly social environment.

The Friends of the Wollongong Botanic Garden have recently funded the following projects.
Discovery Centre Access Gates - 2011
The Friends provided the funding for the installation of new gates and palisade style fencing at the Madoline Street entrance to the Garden. These gates were named after the Friends group to celebrate 30 years service at the Wollongong Botanic Garden.
Plant Label Engraver - 2010
One of the defining features of any Botanic Garden is that its plant collections are labelled
The Friends purchase of a new plant label engraver for the Botanic Garden in 2010 has to date resulted in more than 300 new plant labels installed within the Garden and Mount Keira Annex.
