We organise a range of activities and educational programs for community members, schools and visitors to enjoy.
Our Discovery Centre is an education facility used by plant societies, the Friends of Wollongong Botanic Garden and Council's Environmental Education Team.
The Discovery Centre caters to a wide range of visitors from pre-school age through to seniors. A variety of school programs and community education programs are offered to these visitors.
Our education staff also visit schools, community centres and other organisations to teach people about the environment, mainly through a travelling environmental drama program called Theatre in a Wheelbarrow.
The easiest way to access the Discovery Centre is via the Madeline Street entrance.
IMB Garden Cinema
Important update - Unfortunately, the wet weather has meant the screenings for Tuesday 14 February, Wednesday 15 February and Thursday 16 February have been cancelled and tickets will be refunded.
An update will be posted on the screenings for Friday 17 February and Saturday 18 February. We'll also post details on the Tropfest Short Film Festival soon.
This summer, outdoor cinema is coming to the Wollongong Botanic Garden. Over six weeks films like Puss in Boots, Red Dog and New Year's Eve will be projected onto an inflatable clam-shaped screen.
Film-goers are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and sit on the grass amphitheatre at Fig Lawn - it's near the playground and close to the Murphys Ave car park.
Tickets are available online and are: Adults $15, concession $12, children between three and 14 years $8 and $45 for a family of two adults and two children . At the gate, tickets are $18.50, $16, $13 and $50.
Gates open 7pm. Films start at sundown, approx 8pm.
The event is coordinated by promoter High as A Keyte Promotions, with support from Council, Tourism Wollongong, and sponsors IMB.
