With a proud heritage in steel making and coal mining, the city of innovation is now emerging as an important knowledge services centre, international trade hub and leading University City. Wollongong City Council is serious about attracting new business to Wollongong and assisting current businesses to grow.

Economic Development Advisory Board

Council is currently seeking seven individuals with relevant skills and experience to join its Economic Development Advisory Board. This group will provide advice to Council on the formation of its economic development program. The program will support the growth of the Wollongong and regional economy.

People with relevant skills and experience are invited to submit an application. Applications will need to address the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate ability to represent significant  and emerging sectors of the economy 
  • Strong knowledge of current issues facing the region’s economy
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting Business growth
  • Connection to national and international industry representatives
  • Experience in promotion and marketing the strengths of Wollongong or other regional city
  • Experience in political advocacy on projects or issues
