Australia Day

Print this Page

Wollongong's Australia Day celebration, held around Wollongong Harbour and foreshore, is the City's biggest annual event.  We're already working to bring you another great day on 26 January 2016, and will update this page with program details when they're confirmed.

In the meantime, there are a number of ways you can get involved:

Australia Day 2016 Committee

Are you interested in helping Wollongong celebrate Australia Day?

The City of Wollongong Australia Day Committee as a formal committee of Council, is seeking up to six new community representatives, including youth (under the age of 26) representatives.
As a member of the committee, you’ll have a chance to have input into our city’s major community celebration on 26 January and associated events.

To nominate for the committee, complete the online form below, or download the pdf and return it to us. Make sure you also read the Committee Charter before nominating.

Nominations close on Friday 12 June 2015.

For more details our Events team on (02) 4227 7104, or email events@wollongong.nsw.gov.au

Volunteers for Australia Day

Want to see our Australia Day celebrations from behind the scenes? If you've got some spare time, think about joining our team of event volunteers. It's a great way to get some experience working at a major event. There are lots of things volunteers can do on the day, from marshalling and distributing information to assisting with our Citizenship Ceremony.

If you'd like to volunteer, or for more information, please fill in our online application form, or call us on 4227 7111.
