New Year’s Eve Celebration to Light up the Gong

Dust off the picnic blanket because Council’s New Year’s Eve celebration is set to be a cracker. The entertainment kicks off at Wollongong Harbour from 7pm on Friday, 31 December 2010 and finishes with an amazing fireworks display at 9:30pm.
The family friendly event will provide entertainment for everyone, with live performances from Circus WOW, jazz music, drumming workshops, amusement rides and much more.
The alcohol free event is a fantastic way for you to welcome in the New Year with family and friends at one of our city’s most beautiful locations.

Music throughout the night will be from i98fm.
Amusement rides located in both Osborne Park and northern end of Lang Park and toilets spread across the area.
Food stalls located in Osborne Park and Lang Park, the businesses located in Wollongong Harbour are open for trade.
How to Get There
You can catch the the train to Fairy Meadow, North Wollongong or Wollongong stations and jump on the Gong Shuttle Bus.
Hop off or on the Gong Shuttle Bus on Cliff Road near Georges Place or along Corrimal Street and walk the short walk to the festivities.
Road Closures
The following roads will be closed from 5 to 10.15pm on New Year’s Eve:
- Cliff Road between Georges Place and Marine Drive.
- Harbour Street between Cliff Road and Smith Street, including Old Court House Lane / Harbour access ramp off Endeavour Drive.
Businesses within the road closure zones will be open as normal and as well as the Wollongong Harbour businesses, additional food stalls for the celebrations will be located in Osborne Park and Lang Park.
