Car Parking in Wollongong's City Centre
Wollongong is a growing city, and parking restrictions are required to control traffic flow and allow easy, safe and accessible parking.
Signs clearly indicate parking restrictions, including time limitations, which must be obeyed. Breaches of parking restrictions are monitored and enforced by our Parking Rangers who can administer on the spot fines.
The Gong Shuttle
The Gong Shuttle is a bright green bus that is easily identifiable to get you around the city - for shopping, business or to connect you to other transport. The Shuttle is frequent and it's free.

Public Transport
We enourage all residents and visitors to use our comprehensive and convenient public transport network which includes buses and trains.
To ensure that you return home safely after a night out in Wollongong, there are a range of late night transport options available.
The RTA manages the operation of Night Buses between Wollongong and Thirroul, and between Wollongong and Dapto (as well as other locations in NSW). This is another community Road Safety Initiative. These late night transport options are to help prevent drink driving and drink walking.
Visit the Night Bus web page for more information. The site also has a link to "Taxi Safe" which provides information about safe options for booking a taxi and avoiding crowded taxi ranks, through participating licensed venues.
Road Safety
We demonstrate our commitment to road safety through our support and commitment to the NSW Local Government Road Safety Program.
This funding partnership with the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) helps link state and local road safety priorities. It also identifies local road safety issues and contributes to future planning strategies to make our city's roads safer.
Our road safety unit works with other Council divisions and the community to help resolve road safety issues and plan for a safer environment for all road users.
We value our road safety partners who work closely together to achieve local outcomes. These include the RTA, police, PCYC, NRMA Insurance, and Shellharbour, Kiama, Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla councils.
We run workshops throughout the year, and work cooperatively on school safety and cycling safety. To view more information visit our road safety page.
