Content: Aim | Problems with child care? Who should I contact?
Aim:
Our Children and Family Services division works hard to make sure the City of Wollongong has a range of quality, accessible children services.
Our staff are involved in:
- planning and coordinating the development of children’s services;
- providing children and family services information, including the Early Intervention Guide;
- liaising and networking with government and peak children’s services to achieve an adequate level of quality services in Wollongong;
- promoting specific activities such as Purple Ribbon Month, an annual campaign which raises public awareness about the issue of child abuse.
Problems with child care? Who should I contact?
If you have any concerns with children's services funded by the Federal or State governments in relation to funding, availability of places or fees, you are able to directly raise these issues with your Federal or State Members of Parliament.
Federal and State government have differing responsibilities concerning child care.
Contact our two federal MPs for the Wollongong and Shellharbour Council areas - Sharon Bird (MP) and Jennie George (MP) if you have any issues or concerns with:
- long day care (services open 8 hours or more and have child care benefit (CCB) available to parents);
- before and after school care, vacation care;
- family day care; or
- occasional care.
Contact your Wollongong representatives of State parliament - David Campbell MP, Lylea McMahon MP or Noreen Hay MP if you have any issues or concerns with pre-school services (state funded - community owned) in relation to:
- fees (cost of service);
- availability of services or places; or
- funding.
