Penalty Infringement Notice

What to do if you have received a Penalty Infringement Notice?

The State Debt Recovery Office (SDRO - the fines division of the Office of State Revenue ) deals with all penalty infringement notices issued by Councils in NSW. If you receive a penalty infringement notice you should pay this fine in accordance with the options provided to you on the back of the infringement notice. If you believe you were unjustly fined there are two options as follows.

  1. You may elect to have the matter heard in Court. If this is the case you should follow the details on the back of the infringement notice.
  2. You may decide that you do not wish to elect to have the matter heard in Court but you wish to request a review . This request  should  be made to the SDRO, as per the details on the back of the infringement, not to Council. The SDRO will make a decision based on your information. Any response you receive will be from the SDRO.

For further information about the Court Election or Review  process, please contact the SDRO.
