Draft amendment to Wollongong LEP 2009 for reclassification of Council land

Two Draft Local Environmental Plans are being placed on exhibition for public comment. The first Draft Plan [(02/08) File SU26464] proposes to reclassify 14 sites from Community Land to Operational Land, to remove real or perceived trusts, caveats and interests from these sites and enable the community to comment on the proposed changes to Council owned land. Five of the sites are proposed to be rezoned and an increase in floor space ratio (FSR) on one site is proposed.

  5. Part Lot 202 DP 716326, Bott Drive, Bellambi.
  6. Part Lot PGRS DP 38571, David Crescent, Fairy Meadow and rezone from RE1 to R2.
  7. Lot 1 DP708558, Montague Street Reserve, North Wollongong.
  8. Part Lot 207 DP 816857, Mercury Street, Gwynneville and increase the FSR from 0.5:1 to 0.75:1.
  9. Lot 1 DP 875991, Mt Keira Summit Park, off Queen Elizabeth Drive, Mt Keira.
  10. Part Lot 43 (Conveyance No 224 Book 2243), Keira Mine Road, Mount Keira and rezone from RE1 to R2.
  11. Part Lot 192 DP 700165, Nolan Street, Berkeley and rezone from RE1 to E4.
  12. Lot 1 DP 243820, Eyre Place, Warrawong rezone RE1 to R2.
  13. Lot 1 DP 1005887, 253 Kanahooka Road, Dapto.
  14. Lot 102 DP 1005245 and Lot 1 DP 610406, Lake Illawarra Foreshore, Windang Road, Windang and rezone from RE2 to RE1

The second Draft Plan [(03/08) File SU26465] proposes to reclassify twelve (12) sites from Community Land to Operational Land, to remove real or perceived trusts, caveats and interests from these sites and enable the community to comment on the proposed changes to Council owned land.

The two Draft Plans and other relevant documents and policies will be available for inspection at:

  • Council’s Administration Building, Burrelli Street, Wollongong  
  • Wollongong, Thirroul, Corrimal, Dapto and Warrawong Libraries

The exhibition period is 15 September 2009 to 27 November 2009. 

Public hearings to discuss the reclassification and rezoning of the Council land to operational land in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993 will be held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 27 October 2009 to discuss sites in Thirroul, Bulli and Woonona.
  • Thursday, 29 October 2009 to discuss sites in Balgownie, Bellambi, Fairy Meadow, Russel Vale and Corrimal.
  • Tuesday, 3 November 2009 to discuss sites in North Wollongong, Gwynneville, Mt Keira, Wollongong and Figtree.
  • Thursday, 5 November 2009 to discuss sites in Berkeley, Warrawong, Windang, Spring Hill and Port Kembla.
  • Tuesday, 10 November 2009 to discuss sites in Kembla Grange and Dapto.

The Hearings will be held from 6pm to 7:30pm in the Level 9 Function Room at Council’s Administration Building and in the Level 10 Committee Rooms 2 and 3 at Council’s Administration Building for the 3 November 2009.

Any person before the closing date shown above may make a submission for or against the draft Plan. Please note that submissions become public documents and may be viewed by other persons on request.
