In 2011, Wollongong City Council is proposing a minor amendment to the Plan of Management (PoM) for Coledale Beach Reserve.
The amendment proposal adds a '2011 Performance Assessment and Review' section at the end of the Coledale Beach Reserve PoM. The purpose of this amendment is to provide a means to formalise the use of the area where a boatshed was previously located and to update the public on the progress towards the PoM Action Plan.
A deteriorated boatshed in the reserve was demolished in 2007 and Council has trialled the use of a stand alone removable lifeguard structure to provide improved lifeguard surveillance services to beach visitors. The trial has been successful and Council now wishes to formalise this use that did not exist when the orginal PoM was adopted. The amendment is necessary as the only current permitted use of the grassed area once occupied by the boatshed is as a grassed reserve.
Copies of the draft amendment to the Coledale Beach Reserve PoM can be viewed at any Council library, at our Customer Service Centre at 41 Burelli Street, Wollongong, or by selecting the link below.
