There will be changes to access to Bulli Beach on Monday, 24 and Tuesday, 25 January, while Wollongong City Council conducts realignment work at the opening of Wharton’s creek on Bulli Beach.
The remedial works are now set to proceed following the relevant government approvals and should assist in improving beach access.
While work is underway, beach goers will be directed to swim in the patrolled bathing area located south of Wharton’s Creek.
The realignment works is estimated to be finished within two days, which will see improvements to the beach access in place for Australia Day.
Council’s Beach Services Coordinator, Jason Foye said that Council had been sourcing approvals over an extended period and noted the previous eight weeks to start work on the site.
“The works are an important initiative for Council to maintain our pristine beaches and assist in providing safe community access.”
Access to the patrolled bathing area will be via the walkways south of Wharton’s Creek adjacent to Bulli Tourist Park.
