Wollongong City Council has recommended a draft DCP Locality Chapter to guide residential development at the former Bulli Brickworks site be placed on public exhibition for six weeks to allow community comment.

Administrator Robert McGregor AM encouraged local community members to view the draft DCP Locality Chapter. “This is an opportunity for people to have a say about the proposal guidelines for residential development and conservation of the bushland at the site,” Mr McGregor said. “Council would like to hear the voices of the community on issues such as this.”

The draft Locality Chapter will form part of the Wollongong Development Control Plan 2009.  The DCP supplements the Wollongong Local Environment Plan 2009 which covers issues such as zoning, height, floor-space ratio and lot size controls.

The former Bulli Brickworks site was rezoned to permit residential development as part of the preparation and adoption of the Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009.  The Bulli Brickworks site is currently zoned R3 Medium Density and E3 Environmental Management.

Council and the Roads and Traffic Authority will be working on access issues for the land in accordance with the current zoning.
