Wollongong City Council’s General Manager, David Farmer, says the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has some great part time jobs available for Greater Wollongong residents as a Census Area Supervisor.
Over 1,100 Area Supervisors are required in New South Wales to help the ABS conduct the Census of Population and Housing on 9 August 2011, and help oversee the distribution and collection of around 14.2 million Census forms to Australia’s 9.8 million households.
“Census positions are perfect for people who want to help their neighbours, friends and communities. Census jobs will make a real and positive contribution to Greater Wollongong,” Mr Farmer said.
“We’ve been working with the ABS for well over a year to guarantee a successful Census in the Greater Wollongong area.
“The Census takes a valuable snapshot of our community.
“It provides important information to decision makers, businesses and community groups to help plan for the future of Greater Wollongong.
“Quality Area Supervisors are needed in every corner of the Greater Wollongong region to ensure an accurate Census,” Mr Farmer said.
It’s the first 2011 Census recruitment push by the ABS. In April a further 29,000 collector positions will be advertised nationally.
The ABS has increased the salaries of Area Supervisors this year in recognition of the fantastic work they do.
Area Supervisors will receive between $4,300 and $7,500 for the part-time position and will be employed from 18 April until 7 October.
Applications close on the 4th March.
