Council is offering residents free green waste disposal as a result of the high winds to Whytes Gully and Helensburgh Waste Depots until Sunday, 12 September 2010

Council is offering residents the chance to drop off the leaves and branches brought down by yesterday’s high winds to Whytes Gully and Helensburgh Waste Depots free of charge until the end of next weekend, 12 September 2010.

Council’s free offer will only apply to green waste that has been a result of the wind damage. Normal charges will apply for other types of garden waste such as grass clippings, weeds or regular pruning.  This free offer is not available to commercial operators.

Manager City Works, John Bubb said that this offer is to help the general public clean up the mess left behind after the weekend’s wild weather.

“After a weekend of high winds local suburbs have been inundated with downed branches and leaves. Council is offering to assist local residents with free green waste drop off to the local tips this week,” John Bubb said.
