Wollongong City Council will begin work on the Coledale rock pool refurbishment on Monday 23 May 2011.

Council has engaged contractor Affective Services Australia to conduct the works, which will begin on Monday 23 May with the site being secured with fencing throughout the construction period.

In a review of its nine tidal rock pools, Council found that the Coledale rock pool was in poor condition with a number of structural defects throughout the pool structure.

The proposed works on the rock pool will include complete replacement of the rock pool floor, repair to cracked and damaged walls, new stairs and other associated works.

The pool will be closed for about 12 weeks while the work is completed and regular winter swimmers are encouraged to use the nearby tidal pools at Scarborough or Austinmer during this period.
