Enjoy a range of free lunchtime (12-1pm) activities on Mondays and Tuesdays until Tuesday, 24 May 2011 in the newly refurbished Town Hall.
Wollongong City Council Branch Libraries and Community Facilities Manager, Jan Noble, says the program of ‘Town Hall Teasers’ is a chance for the community to reacquaint themselves with the building.
“The idea is to host a number of music, dance and other cultural performances as well as running backstage tours and talks on the Town Hall’s social history in our refurbished venue, while we finish off details of the building’s fit out.”
“This will give the community the chance to drop in, see the work that has been done and enjoy a fabulous line up of entertainment including choral groups, jazz ensembles, dance and classical orchestras, organ and piano recitals. We’re particularly excited about an ensemble from the Canary Islands who will be performing this Monday 7 March.”
The multi-million dollar refurbishment was supported by a $2 million grant from the NSW State Government
The Town Hall will open for business in mid year with Pegasus Venue Management operating the venue on behalf of Wollongong Council. It will host an annual program of high quality performances as well as providing a space for functions and meetings.
