Wollongong City Council is currently undertaking its Community Survey for 2012, which will gather feedback on Council’s services, projects and facilities.
Wollongong-based IRIS Research will undertake the phone survey on Council’s behalf, speaking with 750 randomly selected citizens to get their view on the services and projects undertaken by Council.
“Through the survey we’re able to find out the services, projects and facilities that people find most important to them,” Director of Corporate and Community Services Greg Doyle said.
“We use this information to help develop our annual management plan and budget. Our last survey took place in 2010 and found that 80% of residents were satisfied with Council’s overall performance, an improvement from 55% in 2008.”
The survey has taken place since 1997 and collects information that helps improve the services that Council provides from libraries right through to waste. Mr Doyle said the results of the survey would be released in April 2012 and would go on to inform the draft Wollongong 2022 Community Strategic Plan.
“The Community Survey is just one of the ways that Council engages with the community. Over the past few months Council has been working hard to develop a long-term plan for the city. We’ve been out and about talking to people at kiosks, online and through our Community Summit held last October.”
