Wollongong City Council will celebrate the announcement of the Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year at an Australia Day dinner on Thursday 19 January, and Council is inviting you to attend.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery OAM will announce the winners of the 2012 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and the Cultural Award and Community Award winners at the dinner at the City Beach Function Centre, Marine Drive, Wollongong.
During the evening Council will also hold a special session called, Why Australia, Why Wollongong, where community members will be able to talk about their journey to live in Australia and why they chose Wollongong as a place to settle.
Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery said: “The dinner is a grand occasion for the city to celebrate those people who have been awarded the citizen, cultural and community awards.
“The awards will be announced and the night promises to be full of good stories and good friends as we share a few details about journeys and why people chose Wollongong. I chose Wollongong for a very simple reason, but you will have to attend the dinner to learn my story.”
Anyone is welcome to come along to the dinner, and tickets for the two-course dinner are $60 per person can be purchased at the Council's Customer Service Centre in the Administration Building on Burelli Street, or by filling out and sending in the form on our web site under Events / Australia Day 2012.
