School Holiday Fun this January

Wollongong City Council has a range of fun school holiday activities to keep all children entertained this summer. There is a variety of programs available from Nintendo Wii to a jumping castle in the pool.

Enjoy a summer day in the Botanic Garden and learn about recycled crafts or have a picnic lunch under the gum trees. From Monday, 17 until Friday, 21 January ‘Tales of Gumtree Hollow’ will be running, where children can join in on a treasure hunt and the watch the ‘Baron Von Blue Gum Boots’ garden show.

Make a splash on a hot day this summer and have fun on the ‘Pool Inflatable’, a jumping castle on water for children to play on this January. Learn to Swim Holiday Program at Beaton Park Leisure Centre with classes for children aged 3 to14 from beginner through to advanced programs.

Get in touch with your creative side at your local library with creative writing and photography workshops. Have some fun with the Nintendo Wii and Lego these holidays. All activities at Council Libraries are free.

Be creative and entertained at Wollongong Youth Centre with ‘Simply Art’ on Tuesday, 11 January or join in on the fun with the Wii Band Comp on Wednesday, 12 January. Movies on the big screen and live performances by local bands and musicians. All activities at the Youth Centre are free and fully supervised for young people aged 12 to 18.

Wollongong City Gallery is taking part in the ‘Kid’s Adventure Passport,’ which runs from January to 26 April 2011. The passport offers free entry for all New South Wales Primary School children to participating galleries and museums. Throughout school holidays you can create your own totem pole, learn Asian calligraphy or make coloured crepe flowers at the Wollongong City Gallery.
