Council Supports Illawarra Ride to Work Week
11-15th October 2010
Residents of the Illawarra are encouraged to get on their bikes and participate in Illawarra Ride to Work Week from 11-15 October 2010.
This is the 2nd year that Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama Councils have worked together to support the event.
All eligible participants will go in the draw to win one of 3 Red Balloon vouchers each to the value of $300 (for more information visit www.redballoon.com.au). There is one voucher to be won in each Local Government Area.
During the event you can choose the number of days you wish to ride. If you live some distance from your place of work, you may also combine different modes of travel with bike riding.
Why you should consider riding to work:
Riding to work is not only great for your health but is also great for the environment.
Council has committed to improving footpaths and cycleways in the city centre to encourage people to leave the car at home. Residents who don’t live close enough to work will be urged to combine a bike ride with public transport.
