Wollongong City Council is calling for nominations from individuals or groups who would like to participate in its Cultural Reference Group.

The group will provide Council with information and advice regarding the cultural needs of the community to assist in the development of cultural policies and projects.

Manager of Community, Cultural and Library Services, Jenny Thompson, said that the group will focus on a broad range of cultural initiatives, including proposals for public art across the city, cultural industry development strategies, and the annual Viva la Gong festival.

“In order to reflect and represent the culturally diverse population of the city, we’re looking for people with a range of interests and experience to be involved in the Cultural Reference Group,” said Ms Thompson.

“We’re aiming to involve people across disciplines including, but not limited to, the performing arts, visual arts and literary arts.”

The panel will meet quarterly, and members will be appointed until September 2012.

Nomination forms should be submitted by Friday, 29 April 2011.
