Wollongong City Council, in its draft Management Plan 2011-14, has identified several major projects which it will focus on over the next three years.

Administrator Dr Col Gellatly AO said that these projects were key to achieving Council’s Strategic Directions in creating a vibrant and liveable city, and building viable and sustainable assets and services.

“Major projects identified in the draft Management Plan for 2011-14 include completion of the West Dapto Initial Access Strategy, through the delivery of flood accessible roads to prepare the area for future growth and ease congestion in the Dapto CBD.”

“The West Dapto Land Release will also move forward, making the way for an estimated 16,000 new dwellings over the next 50 years.”

“We will continue preserving our heritage and improving community facilities through the $12 million North Beach Bathers Pavilion refurbishment which is currently underway.”

Other major projects identified in the Plan include revitalisation of the city centre through the refurbishment of Crown Street Mall, with the Development Application and artist’s impressions on display shortly.

Town planning issues will also be addressed, including the policies for land management in escarpment fringe lands between Mt Kembla and Cordeaux Heights.

The community can view the draft Management Plan 2011-14 on Council’s website, and are invited to provide feedback until Thursday, 26 May 2011.
