Market St Roadworks Monday 16 Update

Work on the renewal of Market Street will continue on Tuesday 17 May. The pavement has been removed from outside lane at the south-west corner in Market Street outside the entrance to Crown Central to the corner of Market Street and Church Street [in the north].

Today workers have filled this area with concrete and traffic is expected be allowed back into this area later in the week.
 
On Tuesday 17 May work will include removing the pavement on the section from the northern corner of Church Street and Market Street around to the intersection of Market Street and Church Street on the southern end, adjacent to the Wollongong Police Station.
 
Drivers wishing to access Crown Central car park will be able to enter via Court Lane, and turn left at Market Street to enter the car park.
 
Council will have traffic control personnel in place at the road closures to help with traffic flow.

Council will have variable message boards located at:
• Kembla Street near Court Lane One northbound, and one Southbound
• Church Street, near the Illawarra Master Builders Club for Southbound Traffic
• Smith Street near Thomas Street for eastbound traffic
 
Thomas St will not be open to through traffic until further notice.
 
Council is asking for people to be aware that there will be changed traffic conditions and allow extra time for travel. Council apologises for any inconvenience.
