Wollongong City Council and the ahm Hawks have teamed up to put on a great night this Friday, 10 December.

‘Tipping’ off from 5.30pm this Friday, 10 December is Council’s third annual Twilight Food Markets of the World at Flagstaff Hill, you can also catch the Hawks v Adelaide 36ers home game at Win Entertainment Centre at 8pm.

The Twilight Food Markets of the World have been very popular with the community, from 5.30pm until dark Flagstaff Hill comes alive with music, face painting and market food.

Council’s Events Coordinator, Lee Cramer, said each Twilight Food Night will have a theme, and the third annual markets is themed around Christmas and also supporting our city’s favourite basketball team, the ahm Hawks for their home game.

“Fridays are the perfect time for the majority of residents to unwind after a hard working week. It’s a relief to not have to cook dinner and instead pack the picnic rug and head to Flagstaff Hill to enjoy good food and socialise with friends and family,” said Lee Cramer.

“This Friday, 10 December is extra special for the Illawarra as the local basketball team, the ahm Hawks play the Adelaide 36ers in their fifth home game for the 2010/11 season.”

“The ahm Hawks are currently on top of the ladder, so we’re urging the community to come to the markets for pre-game dinner and then head to Win Entertainment Centre to cheer on the Hawks,” Ms Cramer said.

“A special appearance by Santa and Christmas carols at the markets will add to the night’s entertainment,” described Ms Cramer.

“We’ve made special efforts to attract more vendors to set up food stalls at the markets so people won’t have to wait as long in line for their delicious foods,” concluded Lee Cramer.

“Friday night is a great night out in Wollongong. Why not enjoy the local twilight markets then come on down to the WIN Entertainment Centre and enjoy a great night of Hawks basketball,” Hawks Captain Mat Campbell said.
