Boredom isn’t an option this weekend.
On Saturday, the first of two Moonlight Movies nights will be screened at Thirroul. The free event is funded by IMB Building Society and organised by Wollongong City Council and Wollongong TAFE students.
The family-friendly film, Surf’s Up (rated G), will be screened from 8pm on a huge screen at Thirroul Beach Reserve. People are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and snacks to the beachside park from 7pm.
The second Moonlight Movies night will be held next weekend on Saturday 26 November at Dapto Showground. Daddy Day Care (rated PG) is on the bill that night.
On Sunday, meanwhile, residents should head to Osborne Park for this summer’s second Beats & Bites. The park opposite Belmore Basin will be lined with market and food stalls, and there’ll be music from The Merchants. Things kick off at 4pm and wrap up around 8pm.
“Both these events are part of Council’s Summertime Magic program and I’d encourage everyone to come along,” Wollongong City Acting Lord Mayor Councillor David Brown said. “There’ll be a great atmosphere at both Thirroul Beach Reserve and Osborne Park. And, best of all, both events are free. That’s perfect for families looking for budget-friendly entertainment.”
