It has been 10 years since Wollongong City Council’s Dapto Ribbonwood Centre first opened its doors. And to mark the occasion, there will be some special festivities on Monday 7 November 2011.
Highlights include the announcement of the winners of the Your Library Close-up Guessing Competition and the Memory Photo Competition and – of course – a birthday cake, which will be cut by Wollongong’s Deputy Lord Mayor Cr David Brown. Between 10.15am -11.15am, youngsters aged up to five years can join in on the 10 Tall Tales Storytime.
“Dapto Ribbonwood Centre plays such a vital role in our community’s life – it’s the place where people come to meet, learn new skills, and borrow books. They can also enjoy crafts, relax with recreational activities, and party with family and friends. I would invite everyone to come along and celebrate this special anniversary,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Cr Gordon Bradbery OAM said.
Festivities start at 11am and wrap up at 2pm. There will be entertainment from the Combined Pensioners Concert Group Singers, Dapto Children’s Centre and Seniors Charity Old Time Dance Group. The Australian/Irish singers and the Australian Academy of Tai Chi will also perform, and there’ll be a Zumba demonstration.
