From 9 April Council will be undertaking major road works to reconstruct Nolan Street, Berkeley.

Wollongong City Council’s Director Infrastructure and Works, Peter Kofod, said the work was part of Council’s program of renewing roads, footpaths and other infrastructure across Wollongong.

“Nolan Street is showing signs of wear particularly in front of the school. In order start work on the first section of the road Council will close Nolan Street between Gallop and Kelly Streets. We’ll do this during school holidays to minimise disruption to local families and to buses.”

“The work will be carried out in stages to make access as easy as possible for residents. We aim to reopen Nolan Street over the Easter long weekend with the next stage of work starting on 2 May. This second stage of work shouldn’t involve full road closure – just individual lane closures.”

Electronic signs will be installed marking detours via Cumberland and Cheshire Streets or through Kelly Street, Barber Street, Gallop Street and Norfolk Street.

Council officers will be available to answer questions about the planned roadwork at an onsite kiosk on Monday, 4 April between 7 and 8am on the Corner of Nolan and Kelly Streets.

Council apologises for any inconvenience while we complete this important roadwork.
