"Over the weekend we are expecting large and dangerous sea conditions, long period swells of 18-19 seconds generated by severe Tropical Cyclone Wilma are expected to impact the NSW Coastline on Friday evening and Saturday. The larger set waves will arrive irregularly, which can create a false perception of safe locations for people to swim, walk or fish on the rocks.
Council urges all residents and visitors to follow all beach safety precautions and remember the golden rules, only swim between the red and yellow flags and if there are no flags up, don't go swimming and reminds rock fishermen to always be wearing lifejackets and non-slip shoes and remain aware of the changing conditions.
Council Lifeguards are on diligent watch over the weekend and will be closing beaches if swimming conditions become dangerous."
