If you need to buy some more winter woollies or stock up on some snugly bedding and blankets, then now is the time to take advantage of Wollongong City Council’s free Op Shop tour on Tuesday 28 June.

Environment and Conservation Services Manager Fiona Netting said: “The Op Shop Tour will give community members the chance to enjoy some bargains and the bargain hunt.”

Op shops are an important community service that benefit a wide range of people in the community.

“As well as saving you money, your purchases help to finance outreach programs which can be particularly important in the harsh winter months,” said Ms Netting

The tour will begin at 9am at Council’s Administration building, Burelli Street, Wollongong. There will be a bus provided that will take the group to a number of local opportunity shops. Op-shoppers with a nose for treasure may find essentials like hats, scarfs, gloves, woollie jumpers, blankets or perhaps stumble on something unique and beautiful.

The bus will then head to Whytes Gully for a guided tour of the landfill site to learn about the benefits of reuse and recycling. Following the tour, we will visit more op shops before returning to Wollongong.

Morning tea will be provided on the Winter Warm-Op Tour. Please bring along your reusable bags for any treasures you may find along the way. The tour is free for Wollongong citizens. Places are limited. You can book now by calling (02) 4227 7105 or emailing GT@wollongong.nsw.gov.au.
