Wollongong City Council is encouraging the community to come along to the final events of the ‘The Town Hall Teasers program’ between 12noon and 1pm.

Council’s Branch Libraries and Community Facilities Manager Jan Noble said the Town Hall Teasers have been a huge success with hundreds of people turning out and reacquainting themselves with the building
“I would like to thank the performers for their wonderful music and dance and for giving up their time (for free) to make the program possible,” said Jan Noble.
“The four month program has included music, dance and other cultural performances, backstage tours and talks on the Town Hall’s social history.
“I’d also like to thank the audiences for coming along and enjoying the entertainment.”
Pegasus Venue Management is currently setting up, preparing to officially take over the management of the Town Hall on 1 June 2011. Pegasus won the tender to operate the Town Hall on behalf of Wollongong City Council to provide an annual program of high quality performances as well as providing a space for functions and meetings.

The first event booked by the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music list is the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on 4 June. This will be followed by Illawarra Singers on 5 June.
The $5.4 million refurbishment of the Town Hall features a new foyer, snack bar, balcony, fire safety upgrades, improvements to access, including the installation of a lift and upgrades to amenities and backstage areas.
The 824 seat Auditorium and the Multipurpose room (former Community Hall) allows for medium to large scale events such as performances, exhibitions, public meetings and weddings, with two other venues within the facility providing ideal spaces for meetings and other smaller community events.
The refurbishment was supported by a $2 million grant from the NSW State Government.
