Do you wish you had more of a voice? Do you live, work or study in Wollongong and want to make a difference to the lives of local young people?
Create change by becoming a member of the Wollongong City Council’s newest action group – the ‘Wollongong Youth Action Team’ (WYAT) and start making a difference in your community.
Council is looking for 12 young, active and inspired people between 12 and 24 years to help lead change within Wollongong.
Manager of Community Cultural and Library Services, Jenny Thompson said that the group is a great step in making changes throughout the community.
“This group will allow young people to have a greater voice, and encourages them to have an interest in what is happening in the region,” said Ms Thompson.
“The Wollongong Youth Action Group is a great way for young people to learn more about our community and have a say in how it can be improved for the future.”
WYAT will meet on Tuesday every fortnight between 4pm and 5:30pm to brainstorm ideas, come up with projects and discuss positive changes needed in the region.
There will be a range of guest speakers presenting fun and interactive workshops on topics from strategic planning to event management and even circus skills.
This group is for young people who want to take action and turn their ideas into reality. WYAT will be an important opportunity to get involved in community decision making.
