Wollongong City Council has started work on the construction of a new and improved playground at Towradgi Park.
The new playground is expected to be completed in May 2011, and will offer a range of innovative features including spinning elements, rope shipwreck structure, swings, tower slide, shade and landscaping.
Recreation Services Manager, Mark Bond said that the new playground will be suitable to meet the high level of demand at this popular beachside location and replaces ageing equipment.
“In designing the new playground, we consulted with local children to ensure we deliver a high standard play space that can be enjoyed by the whole community,” said Mark Bond.
“We’ve cleared the site, and are in the early stages of constructing an exciting new play environment with a modern design that we’re confident will be welcomed by local families and visitors to the region.”
“This playground is going to provide the community and visitors to the area a key recreation destination,” explained Mark Bond.
The old equipment has been removed and we ask for the community’s understanding and patience in awaiting the construction of the new playground.
