Strategic Plan

What is Strategic Planning?

Council recognises that change is constant and that we need to regularly review our long-term planning for the city and the organisation.  In order to do this we need to look at the challenges and opportunities facing both the City and Council over the next 10 - 20 years and identify specific actions to be undertaken.

How are we undertaking strategic planning?

As a first step in this process, Council is developing a long term plan for the organisation which will include key actions that we need to undertake over the next 3 years.  We are calling this our 'Strategic Directions'.   A summary of these Strategic Directions will be included in the 2009-12 Managment Plan.

The next step is the development of a Community Strategic Plan for the Local Government Area as a partnership with the community, state agencies and council.  During this time we will be engaging widely with the community on where we are now, where we want to be, and how we are going to get there.  This process will commence during 2009-10 and regular updates will be posted on this website.
