Community conservation in action
Through our Bushcare program, community groups, industries, schools and individuals are working with us to help conserve and restore our unique local biodiversity and contribute to the sustainable management of our natural resources.
Bushcare began in 1994 and now supports around forty active volunteer groups working on projects such as:
- creek restoration;
- bushland regeneration;
- open space revegetation.
This volunteer program includes a variety of activities such as:
- bushland restoration;
- open space revegetation;
- environmental workshops;
- seed collection and plant propagation;
- fire hazard reduction.
In return, Bushcare offers residents many benefits including:
- conservation of local biodiversity;
- creating closer ties within a community;
- educational - we offer free environmental workshops, as well as on ground training;
- increased awareness in the community about the environment and how people can help;
- economic and aesthetic benefits to the local community.
Volunteer work is greatly valued in our community. By joining as Bushcare group, you can help restore our environment. You'll learn more about what we can do to protect our biodiversity in our everyday lives.
