Author Talk - Don Tate

Vietnam War veteran and local author, Don Tate, will be speaking about his book ‘The War Within’. This compelling book describes Don’s time in Vietnam and the effect it has had on him and his family. He will also host a special viewing of historic film he took in Vietnam as a young infantryman in 1969. It is a film that Vietnam veterans, family members of veterans as well as the general public will find interesting and very moving.

NEW SPECIAL COLLECTION - FAST BACKS

What is a Fast Back? FAST BACKS are extra copies of the latest bestsellers and top titles in one easy to find location. FAST BACKS are a great way to enjoy bestsellers when you want them. FAST BACKS can only be borrowed for one week and will not be able to be reserved or renewed. We will still be buying copies of the same title for the general collection that can be reserved and borrowed for longer. There will be FAST BACK display stands at all library branches from 15 June 2009.

NEW SPECIAL COLLECTION - WORKSHOP MANUALS

A selection of vehicle workshop manuals will be available for loan in Central and District libraries from 15 June. The Reference Library will continue to maintain a comprehensive workshop manual collection for use in the Reference Library.

Knit In until 8 August

The library is participating in Knit In, a project run by Wrap with Love Inc & also supported by ABC Local Radio. This voluntary organisation co-ordinates the distribution of knitted blankets to a variety of aid agencies in Australia and overseas, providing life-saving warmth to victims of natural disasters, war and poverty.

KNIT AND KNATTER @ DAPTO DISTRICT LIBRARY

Come along to Dapto Library for the first “Knit in” for the Wrap with Love organisation.

From Friday 5th June the Knit and Knatter group will meet at the Dapto District Library to start the annual Knit In for the Wrap with Love organisation.

Everyone is welcome to join the group, both experienced and beginner knitters.

When: From Friday 5th June at 10am
Where: Dapto District Library, Ribbonwood Centre
What to bring: 8 ply yarn and no.8 or 4mm knitting needles.  Full instructions as well as assistance from the group will be available

School holiday activities - 13-24 July

A number of activities will be held across the Library, including Wild Animal Masks, Story Storm, Movies & Popcorn (the movie is Twilight – Rated M) & Drop In Craft at Warrawong.  Please see What's On for more details

Toddler Time

This program provides 30 minutes of FUN and stories, songs, finger plays and movement rhymes and is designed especially for children aged 2 to 3.

A literacy initiative for babies. 

Storytime
Recommences at most Branches in the first week of February.  Dad's and Grandad's Storytime will run again at Dapto on the first Saturday of the month

Dads and Grandads Storytime at Dapto

Every Saturday 10-10.30am.  This program comprises of stories, songs and finger rhymes and is lots of FUN for you and your child.  The program is designed specifically for 3 to 6 year olds.
