Wollongong City Libraries run a variety of programs to introduce your child to the world of literature and reading. These programs range from babies to school aged children.
We stock a variety of items including books, CDs, DVDs and magazines. If you need help with directions or assistance in locating particular items our staff are more than happy to assist you.
We provide a welcoming environment for families by providing attractive children's areas that are equipped with child size furniture, puzzles and board games. Children from as young as one day old can join our library service.

Born to Read
A literacy program designed for you and your 0 to 24 month old baby. During the 10 week program, you and your baby will be exposed to language, books, and play activities. In order to allow for the most positive interaction between you and your child, it is best to have one adult per child. Exceptions are made for twins and triplets. No older siblings please. Bookings essential.

Toddler time
This program provides 30 minutes of FUN and stories, songs, finger plays and movement rhymes and is designed especially for children aged 2 to 3. Adults are encouraged to participate in the activities. No bookings required.

Story time
This program includes stories, sing-a-longs, finger rhymes and craft activities, and are lots of FUN for you and your preschool aged children. It runs during every school term. No bookings required.

Kid's Book Club
This program allows all school aged children to come and tell us about a book that they have read within an informal setting. No bookings required.

Summer Reading Club
A state wide initiative that runs through the summer school holidays starting in December and finishing in early February. The Summer Reading Club is for all children, independent readers and those needing to be read to.
School Holiday Programs
FUN activities are available every school holidays at all our libraries. Check our website for activities two weeks before each term break.
Premier's Reading Challenge
This state wide challenge (PRC) is available for all NSW students in Kindergarten through to Year 9. It is an initiative of the NSW state government and supported by your local library. The Challenge aims to encourage students to enjoy reading for leisure and pleasure, and to assist in the development of literacy skills. The Challenge runs from 1 February to 1 September. The four reading groups are K-2, 3-4. 5-6 and 7-9
