A Literary Lunch with Paul McIntyre​ ​


​The Friends of Wollongong City Library present A Literary Lunch with Paul McIntyre. Join the Tasmanian author and playwright as he discusses his book Use It or Lose It, a practical guide to staving off dementia, preserving a healthy body and ageing well. Paul sorts the fact from the fiction on how to stay healthy and sharp with inspiring suggestions and advice from experts in diet, nutrition, neuroscience and psychology.

Paul McIntyre grew up in West Hobart and graduated from the Centre for Performing Arts at the University of Tasmania. He is a Senior Producer for ABC Radio on the Statewide Evening Show and host of ABC Radio's 'Medical Matters'.

​Help Wollongong City Libraries celebrate NAIDOC Week (7-14 July 2019) by raising much-needed funds for remote Indigenous communities.

We will be holding a Great Book Swap at all our library locations. Pick up a  pre-loved book and swap it for a gold coin.

This year the Indigenous Literacy Foundation aims to raise $300,000 to gift 30,000 new books to remote communities who have few to none.

Artist in Residence​ ​- Fletcher Moylan

Fletcher Moylan is a local Indigenous artist who moved to the Dapto area from Kempsey when he was just a young boy.
 
Fletcher has been painting for over 30 years and will be in residence at Dapto Library working on his original designs for a special NAIDOC Week exhibit.

Born in Bega, Lorraine Brown is the premier artist of the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation. Lorraine views her ability to paint as a gift, and loves to use bold colours that reflect her coastal upbringing.
 
Together with her sister, Narelle Thomas, they will be putting their skills on display at Warrawong Library.

Author Jo Spicer is a cancer survivor, diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 45.
Jo realised there was a need for more than the medical facts she was provided. She recognised the necessity for better information about dealing with the emotional and practical issues of diagnosis, treatment and recovery.​
 
Join us to hear Jo talk about her new books “Survive and Thrive! How Cancer Saves Lives’ and its companion book “Ultimate Guide to Cancer Support for Patients and Caregivers”.

Based on true events, the film tells the gripping story of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the challenges faced by a handful of Aussie scientists to bring the historic images to the screen. A light supper will be served. ​

Get sewing in this series of four workshops. Suitable for beginners, you will learn the basics - cutting from a pattern, measuring, pockets, hems, elasticised waistbands and more as you make a cushion cover, skirt, pyjama pants and your own choice item with a zip. Bring your own fabric as indicated. Come along to one workshop or all four.

Spaces are limited so book in early.
