Why be a member of Wollongong City Library?

Let Wollongong City Library open a world of ideas, information and enjoyment for you. With excellent collections, facilities and expert staff assistance Wollongong City Library offers a timely, quality service to you, the customer.

How to join!

Membership is free to all people living with the Wollongong Local Government Area.

To join you must show identification with your name and current address details (for example Drivers Licence, Rates Notice, current utilities bill)

People who live outside the Wollongong Local Government Area are also able to join our Library as reciprocal members. To be eligible you must be a member of your home library and show your card as well as current identification.

What can I borrow?

All members can borrow up to 16 items at one time. You can choose any items from the lending collections which include fiction, non-fiction, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs. Your library card entitles you to borrow from all library locations and return to all locations.

How long can I borrow for?

The load period is 4 weeks. Loans can be renewed twice for further periods of 4 weeks.

Please note overdue fees apply for items returned after the due date. Avoid fees by returning or renewing by the due date.

Loans will not be able to be renewed if they have been reserved by another customer.

Do you have trouble keeping track of all those great books, DVDs and magazines you have borrowed from the Library? 

Why not get some help from Library Elf?  Go to Library Elf , sign up, create an Elf account, input your library membership details as requested and make sure you identify your reminder preferences.  Library Elf will send you an email and/or RSS feed reminders about when your items are due for return and your reservations available for collection.  It's a great way to get your books back on time and avoid overdue fines.
