Civic Plaza

Work will start this week to revitalise Civic Plaza with more grassed areas, trees, seating along the edges, improved lighting and more access and safety for pedestrians.

The $400,000 upgrades to Civic Plaza will lift the look and feel of the city centre’s cultural precinct and provide the community with a much improved spot to sit and relax in the heart of the city centre.

The project involves simplifying the current multi levels across the Plaza and creating a new a grassed area, with perimeter concrete seating which will be under lit and shaded by trees along the edges.

We will also change road access and restrict vehicles to Town Hall Lane to provide more space for pedestrians and people wishing to sit and relax in the new space.”

Upgrades to Civic Plaza are expected to be complete by December. During construction we have installed temporary seating to cater for users and a fence will be placed around the work area to protect workers and pedestrians.
