Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 1990

The Wollongong Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 1990 is the principal planning instrument for the City. The LEP guides what development is permitted in different parts of the City through land use tables which corresponds to the zoning of each parcel of land. It also identifies subdivision standards, floor space ratio and lists heritage items in the City. The LEP has been amended over 220 times since gazettal in 1990 and it is currently subject to a number of minor amendments and is undergoing a major review.

The LEP is accompanied by a series of maps which indicate the zoning of land and the location of heritage items.
