Port Kembla land use strategy
Council, the Port Kembla Port Corporation and the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources, have formed a joint project control team to develop a land use strategy for the industrial and port areas of Port Kembla.
The land use strategy aims to develop a framework to support sustainable port related growth in Port Kembla over the next 20 years.
The main outcome of the strategy will be a strategic framework for management of development in the study area, including revised planning controls for the industrial and port zoned land in Port Kembla.
You can download the study area on the right hand side of the page.
The Strategy is being developed in four stages:
- examination of existing conditions including land use, planning controls and infrastructure provision, and the analysis of opportunities and constraints;
- development of draft planning controls;
- production of a land use strategy document and structure plan;
- preparation of a draft Local Environmental Plan (LEP) and Development Control Plan (DCP) for the study area.
Council engaged Sinclair Knight Merz to complete the study. A copy of the strategy can be found on the right.
