Draft Heritage Strategy and Action Plan
Council endorsed the draft Heritage Strategy Plan and Action Plan at the 26 July meeting. The draft strategy is on public exhibition until 16 September 2011. The strategy was drafted with input from the Wollongong Heritage Advisory Committee and provides the policy framework for the management of the City's Heritage for the coming 3 years.
Thematic History of Wollongong
A Thematic History of the City of Wollongong, prepared by Dr Terry Kass, was adopted by Wollongong City Council on Tuesday, 2 February 2011.
This document is not a comprehensive history of the City, it has been prepared for the specific purpose of identifying the important historic themes that are relevant to the City's development.
The Thematic History forms Stage 1 of the Heritage Schedule Review and will provide assistance in Stage 2 of this project.
Stage 2 will involve a review of the Heritage List contained within Wollongong's Local Environment Plans.
Council gratefully acknowledges the input of the Wollongong Heritage Advisory Committee in the development of the report and members of the wider community who provided input through a public exhibition period.
