​Wollongong Positive Ageing Plan 2013-2017

Our Positive Ageing Plan sets a direction towards creating a city where older people are supported in actively participating and contributing to the community. The first plan was developed in 2012 and is currently in the processes of being renewed.

Support Services

Wollongong City Council provides access to a range of social support services, activities, and social outings, respite services for older people, those living with a disability and their carers. 
 
Wollongong-Shellharbour Community Transport Service helps with transport for older people and people with disabilities.

NSW Seniors Card

NSW permanent residents aged 60 or over, who do no more than 20 hours of paid work a week on average across a 12-month period, can apply for a NSW Seniors Card. This free card gives you discounts and special offers at thousands of businesses across NSW.

With a valid green Medicare Card you can apply for a NSW Seniors Card online at www.seniorscard.nsw.gov.au

NSW Elder Abuse Helpline

The Elder Abuse Helpline and Resource Unit is a free service that provides information, support and referrals relating to th abuse of older people. If you suspect elder abuse is occurring call 1800 628 221.
