In February 2017, Wollongong City Council began investigations into 98A Parkes Street Helensburgh after receiving complaints about odour during excavation works.
Council is working closely with NSW Health and the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) to investigate the matters raised by local residents.
Council appointed an environmental consultancy firm, Coffey, to undertake detailed soil, vapour and groundwater testing at the site. A NSW EPA Accredited Site Auditor was also engaged to oversee the testing done by Coffey.
We have now received Coffey’s draft report on that work, which you can read below:
draft Coffey report 98A Parkes Street Helensburgh [49 MB]
The draft report will be reviewed by the site auditor, and it is expected that a final report will come back to Council later in 2017.
