The list below refers to the terminology used by engineers, designers and construction when building, restoring and maintaining Council assets

 Description

AirCon =Air Conditioning
Asset =A tangible thing that has been constructed or installed by Council to provide a service or a facility for the public ie. a swimming pool, playground equipment, a footpath and so on
BG =Wollongong Botanic Garden
Construct New =Describes the installation or construction of a new asset
Fit Out =Term used to apply to building projects and generally comprises of internal walls, furniture fittings, electrical and so on
K&G =Kerb and Gutter
Installation =Involves the placement, installation or erection of an asset ie. install a park bench, a bus shelter or a public sign
Implementation =Refers to where there is a plan, the implementation of a construction plan
Pavement =Refers to the full thickness of the road, including asphalt and underlying layers of gravel and crushed rock
Pedestrian Facility =Describes infrastructure to improve pedestrain safety ie pedestrian refuge islands and pedestrian crossings
Upgrade =Essentially improving the condition, quality, capacity of an existing asset
Reburbish =Decribes activities involved in restoring Council buildings, usually relates to the interior of a building
Reconstruct =Generally refers to when an existing asset is demolished and replaced with an asset of similar condition, quality and capacity
Replace =Describes the replacement of an asset with one of similar features ie. a handrail will be replaced as the same (length, material, style) handrail
Resurface =Replacement of the top layer (or surface) of a road ie. the asphalt on a road
Traffic Facility =Includes traffic lights, median strips, line marking, signage and roundabouts
