To assist the community in reducing their impact on the environment, Council frequently offers a number of workshops, events and educational programs for you to get involved in. These range from backyard chook-keeping workshops and cooking classes, through to bushwalks and educational activities.
Plastic Not So Fantastic Bus Tour
As part of Plastic Free July, we're inviting residents on an adventure where we will visit a variety of locations to piece together the problem of single use plastic.
Hear from a Seabird Rescue expert about how plastic litter is impacting our marine life and birds. We will share ideas about alternatives to single use plastics and show you how to make your own beeswax wrap.
If you've never visited the award winning Flame Tree Sustainable Home, then you will be amazed at where technology is taking us. You will also visit a community owned food co-op which stocks a wide variety of groceries, and locally sourced vegetables and fruit. The aim is to reduce packaging so it is essential to bring along your own containers for bulk produce buys.
When: Thursday 4 July, 2019, 8.45am to 4pm
Location: Depart and return to Wollongong City Council building, 41 Burelli St, Wollongong.
*Bus tour is for residents of the Wollongong LGA and is suitable for ages 15 years and over. Please bring along enclosed shoes suitable for beach walking, a sun hat, bring your own lunch, reusable water bottle and keep cup. Don’t forget your own containers if planning to buy from food co-op and bring some reusable bags.
