Our environment team is available to deliver workshops, answer questions and provide advice on a range of topics surrounding our local environment.

Discovery Centre
A world of discovery awaits students and residents open to learning the many lessons that nature provides.

Detailed school programs are available designed to meet the needs of early childhood through to tertiary aged students.

Children will enjoy a sensory experience through games, songs and movement as they participate in fun programs including Compost Creatures and Captain Compost, the Magic Leaf Hunt or perhaps the Jungle and Desert Puppets.

Older students may be interested to uncover the mysteries of Aquatic Interactions with Terrestrial Environments, The Ghost of Courtney Puckey or To Dinosaurs and Beyond.

Make sure you visit the Discovery Centre soon. To find out more, visit the Botanic Garden's website

Celebrate World Environment Day on Tuesday 5th June at our Beat Plastic Pollution Workshop. Get all the details in the flyer.

Greenhouse Park offers an interactive and hands on experience which gets back to nature.  Contact Mike McKeon to find out more: email mmckeon@wollongong.nsw.gov.au or phone (02) 4227 7111.

Composting and Worm Farming

Composting and Worm Farming are an efficient and eco-friendly solution to reusing your household food scraps and prevent this resource from going to landfill.  Take a few minutes to watch these videos and find out how easy it is set up and manage your own system and in turn, produce an amazing product to use on your garden.

Council holds a number of Composting and Worm Farm workshops each year. If you are interested in finding out more, send your contact details to GT@wollongong.nsw.gov.au and we will contact you when we are hosting our next series of workshops.
