In February 2012 Council completed the Duck Creek Flood Study. The Yallah-Marshall Mount Floodplain Risk Management Study was then completed in March 2013.
Recently, Geoscience Australia released a new national flood estimation guideline (Australian Rainfall and Runoff, 2016) and Council has released an updated blockage policy for bridges and culverts.
To ensure the Duck Creek Flood Study is consistent with the latest guidelines and polices, Council recently began a review of the 2012 flood study. Also, major developments and infrastructure projects are planned in the Duck Creek Catchment and Council wants to ensure these projects are designed using the best available information.
The current review will culminate in updated technical data relating to the nature and extent of flooding in the catchment and will provide the basis for a future Duck Creek Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.
The review of the Flood Study will be overseen by the Southern Floodplain Risk Management Committee which includes representatives from community groups and State agencies.
